The top two from last season meet at Bourne’s Abbey Lawn on Saturday as the Readers Lincolnshire ECB Premier League championship gets under way.

The home side begin their title defence against Lindum in the pick of the opening-day matches.

A settled and experienced batting line-up will again make Bourne hard to bowl out cheaply and the addition of Martin Shillito from Hartsholme to a bowling attack led by Colin Cheer will give captain Peter Morgan more options.

Vice-captain Carl Wilson said: “We know Lindum are a strong team but we have been working hard over the winter to prepare well.

“It’s all about moving our club forward and trying to defend the title.

“We will go out every week to enjoy our cricket with the main aim of winning in style. Hopefully we can bring through our local young lads.”
