JUNIOR CRICKET: Town’s young guns are top of the tree

Spalding Town Cricket Club’s under-9s are top of the table after a cracking win over Uffington.

A great all-round team performance saw fine knocks from Oliver Dring (12), Jasper Ansell (10) and Joe Maltby (10) backed up by wickets from Babu and Bellamy to seal a 29-run success.

• Spalding’s under-13s collected an emphatic ten-wicket win at Billingborough. Josh Lawrence (2-6) and Robert Taylor (2-15) restricted the hosts to 74-6 off their 20 overs, with Paddy Harrington (33no) and Jordan Butcher (30no) powering the Sharks home in just eight overs.

• A polished performance saw Spalding under-15s beat rivals Moulton Harrox by eight wickets – and go top.

Harrox made 77-7, with Lavery making an unbeaten 30 and Town’s Joe Lyon (2-16) and Jimmy Hook (2-17) starring with the ball.

Dave Thomas (32 no) and Ryan Plant (30 no) saw Town home in assured style.

• Town’s under-11s suffered a 60-run defeat at Bourne. Jack Sawyer (2-16) and Matt Dowling (2-13) starred with the ball.

• Ray Mumby took 2-5 as the Spalding Spitfires (69) lost against Market Deeping (122-4). Harrington (18) top scored for Town’s young side.
