Long Sutton Sacks (51) beat Played & Missed (-19) by 70 runs: SUTTON handed out a beating to a weakened Played and Missed team to claim the Spalding Indoor Cricket League title for the second year in a row.
After captain Tom Dale won the toss Sacks started well and took some early wickets. But a slight recovery by Jack Barratt and Jim Clarke in the second spell reduced the deficit, but excellent bowling and saw P and M finish on -19 runs.
Barry Stanway bowled very well, scoring 15 bowling points.
In reply, Sacks never looked in trouble as a bits and pieces bowling attack struggled to gain momentum.
Top scorer Adam Wright (22) put them in the driving seat as the opening pair posted 32 from five overs.
The remaining batsmen continued to build on this as they coasted to a title-winning tally of 51.
Before the clash, Spalding CC beat Spalding Grammar by 35 runs to set up an exciting finish to the league.
Batting first, the league’s top bowler Tom Bristow tormented the Grammar.
He scored 13 bowling points as the school lads managed a poor score of -28.
Bristow was in unusually good form with the bat too, scoring 12 runs as they eased home with a total of seven runs.
• END OF SEASON AWARDS: Top bowler - Tom Bristow (33 points); Top batsman - Tim Norris (221 runs); Fielding award - Tom Dale (nine catches, seven run outs and five stumpings).
