Spalding Cricket Club’s Sunday 2nd side have finally registered their first win of the season.

Rick Dale took 4-37 as Town dismissed opponents Whittlesey for just 98 at the Memorial Field, before captain Jimmy Clarke (25no) and Tyler Wright (34no) steered the hosts to 99-4.

Opening bowler Chris Green (1-14) also performed well at the top of the order, while Richard Gilbert (3-5) cleaned up the tail well.

Tom Dale (18) and Chris Klompas (15) provided Spalding’s reply with a steady foundation, allowing Clarke and Wright to ease the hosts home.

Skipper Clarke said: “It was an all round performance from the lads.

“It was great to be able to call upon the services of Rick Dale for the match as he was his normal impressive self . He bowled a great line and richly deserved his four wickets, while the fielding was of a great standard .

“I’m really looking forward to Sunday’s Derby match with Long Sutton 2nd and hope we can build upon this performance.”
