Former England international all-rounder Ronnie Irani was the special guest as Spalding Town Cricket Club enjoyed their end of season awards bash.
Irani, formerly of Essex and Lancashire, was on hand to award Ansar Hussain with the coveted 1st team player of the year title at Spalding Grammar School. The other big trophies of the night went to Jimmy Clark (clubman), Steve Norris (2nd team player of the year) and Richard Gilbert (3rd team player of the year).
It was a great season for Town, with the first team sealing the South Lincs and Border League Division One title.
Their promotion to the Lincolnshire ECB Premier League was confirmed at the league AGM on Wednesday night, putting the icing on the cake for Rob Ambrose’s side.
They will be up against rivals Markest Deeping next season too, after they were handed a relegation reprieve at the AGM.
