AFTER three washed out weekends on the spin, both Spalding Town and Moulton Harrox made winning starts in the South Lincs and Border League on Saturday.
In the only two games to beat the weather, Spalding beat Grantham by seven wickets in Division One and Harrox edged past Blankney by two wickets in the second tier.
A super 71 from opener Matt Hendry was the catalyst for Town’s success – but the bowlers also did a stellar job.
Grantham were dismissed for just 141 in 37 overs at Spalding Grammar School, with five bowlers sharing the wickets equally.
Charlie Kearns (2-23), Jack Barratt (2-24), Ansar Hussain (2-27), Barry Stanway (2-31) and Jamie Juckes (2-11) did the damage, allowing Hendry and co to chase down the target for the loss of just three wickets (143-3).
Meanwhile, a five-wicket haul from Max Cusack (5-21) helped Harrox edge a low-scoring tussle at Blankney.
His heroics saw them bowled out for 104, with Pierce Scourfield (31) top scoring in Moulton’s match-winning 105-8.
