DEFENDING Lincs ECB Premier Division champions Bourne are moving menacingly up the table after clinching another win on Saturday.
Peter Morgan’s side edged past Louth with two wickets in hand after successfully chasing down their 163.
As ever, Fahad Masood starred with the ball. The Pakistani paceman took 5-50 and was backed up well by club legend David Christmas (3-21) to dismiss the hosts in 40 overs.
Perhaps fittingly it was namesake Conrad Louth who contributed most to the home side’s downfall.
He hit a fine 50 to guide Bourne to glory, with a composed cameo from Christmas (14no) helping see them over the line.
Meanwhile, Market Deeping skipper Dave Gillett raced back from a business trip in Miami to guide his side to an eye-catching win over basement boys Sleaford.
It looked like Deeping had an uphill task at Outgang Road after Matt Mountain’s 85 inspired the visitors to a hefty 223. Karl Green (3-57) was the pick of the home attack.
After a rocky start to their reply, Deeping were saved by an impressive partnership between Gillett (74no) and Tom Andrews (80no).
It was fitting that Gillett cracked the winning runs in the final over, having dashed 4,500 miles to make the fixture.
