Long Sutton 1st (162-9) beat Snettisham 1st XI (138) by 24 runs: IMPRESSIVE bowling helped Sutton complete their first West Norfolk League Division One victory of the season on Saturday with a hard-fought Snettisham success.
Although Snettisham won the toss and put Sutton into bat first on a bowler friendly pitch, the innings started brightly with Adam Wright (67) and Paul Edgeller (24) setting the platform for a good total.
After a flurry of wickets, Rav Sangha (19) got Long Sutton to a competitive 162-9.
Although Rav Sangha (2-20) took an early wicket, Snettisham’s reply cruised to 102-1 before a dramatic late collapse after an inspired bowling change from the captain.
Jake Burton (6-15) and Ian Morris (2-47) allowed Sutton to skittle the opposition out for 138 to give them a well-deserved win.
Long Sutton Sun 1st (203-4) beat Thrapston Sun 1st (202-8) by six wickets
SUTTON Sunday continued their promotion charge with a comfortable victory.
With Thrapston choosing to bat first on a batting paradise, some tight bowling and good fielding early on from Paul Edgeller (2-37) and James Wright (2-40) restricted their scoring rate. But a big partnership from Paul Spicker (119) and Tom McNally (54) propelled them to a respectable 203-8
In reply, Sutton started quickly, with Phil Coote (28) looking comfortable. Even after he went, Tim Norris (84 not out) and Luke Lovegrove (31) then continued to dominate the Thrapston attack.
After Lovegrove’s dismissal, Matthew Bull (23 not out) aggressively completed an impressive victory for the ever-improving Sutton side.
