Benefield (190-6) beat Spalding 2nd (125-9)by 65 runs

Rutland League Division Seven

Spalding decided to bowl and the impressive debutant Hayley Jones (1-37) picked up the key first wicket of Ironmonger(5) from a great catch from another debutant Nick Wide.

Captain Richard Gilbert (1-46) struck early in his spell to get Wilkinson(12) caught behind.

From the other end Joseph Broomfield economically bowled his 12 overs for 35 with three wickets but could not get out Cawley, who played very well for his 71 not out.

Another noticeable performance was from another debutant Tom Wide (1-33), who got the key wicket of Fleming (55).

In reply Spalding never got going, with openers Klompas (2) and Young (4) back in the pavilion with the score on 8.

Tyler Wright(12) tried to add some stability but fell to the impressive Ironmonger(3-29).

With the score on 28-5 Broomfield joined Nick Wide at the crease and they put on 45 before Wide departed for a well played 27.

Two more wickets fell in quick succession before youngster Tom Wide (12no) joined Broomfield, who eventually fell for 45.
