TWO top batting displays rendered it a tough weekend for Bourne and Market Deeping in the Lincs ECB Premier Division.
Bourne were handed a massive loss at home against basement boys Hartsholme, while Deeping came away with a losing draw after being hit by an inspired Sleaford showing.
Saturday’s shock result came at the Abbey Lawn, with Matthew Wooldridge making an incredible 133 not out to guide the visitors to an imposing 235-5.
Martin Shillito then took five wickets as Bourne were all out for 91, some 144 runs shy of their target.
Bourne, champions the season before last, have still only managed two wins all season – which is the same as Hartsholme.
Over at Sleaford’s London Road ground, Deeping were made to rue putting the hosts into bat. The home side raced to a massive 316-2, as Matthew Mountain (137no), Jonathan Adams (62) and Garry Park (91 off 61 balls) were all on fire.
Deeping lost both openers to Sam Burrows early on, but a defiant 70 from teenager Josh Bowers helped them reach 179-4.
This Saturday sees Deeping welcome Bourne to Outgang Road (12.30pm).
