MORE than 700 people enjoyed a sixes cricket and fun day at Billingborough Cricket Club on Bank Holiday Monday.

And Niall Young, of the ECB, was there to present club chairman Dennis Pell with the ECB Clubmark certificate.

The award acknowledges that Billingborough, Horbling and Threekingham CC has met the high standards required by ECB with regards the coaching of juniors and that all facilities and welfare are of the highest standard.

Teams other than Billingborough involved on the day were Spalding CC, Martin CC, Motley Crew and club sponsor Chilli Hut – who included a Pakistan U-19 player and Hong Kong Sixes player. Chilli Hut 1st won the competition.

Oliver Chessum (10) was named player of the competition for outstanding performance in the field, bowling and batting, especially considering the standard he was playing against.

One of the organisers, Billingborough player Dave Newman, said the day had been very successful.
