Spalding Cricket Club look to bounce back from a miserable May to produce a joyous June, starting with Saturday’s trip to Grimsby in the Lincs Premier Division.
Last month was a bit of damp squib for Rob Ambrose’s side as they struggled to produce their early season form.
Talented opening batsmen Thivanka Rajaratne and Warren Nel have not recorded their usual high scores in recent weeks but the trip to Grimsby, who also have just one victory to their name in the Lincs Premier this season, could be a chance to put things right.
Although starting May with a winning draw over Billingborough, the rest of the month didn’t go so well.
A losing draw at leaders Bourne, and defeats at champions Sleaford and struggling Skegness means Ambrose will be looking for improvement on Saturday.
There are no such problems for Bourne skipper Pete Morgan, although his in-form side, who reached the semi-finals of the Stamford Charity Cup with a five-wicket victory over Burghley Park on Monday, can not afford to take third-placed Louth lightly.
Market Deeping, who were eliminated on Monday with a nine-wicket reverse against Uppingham, host Lindum as they look to repeat Saturday’s impressive display when they defeated Woodhall Spa.
Billingborough, still waiting for their first Lincs Premier win, go to Bracebridge Heath.
