Spalding Grammar School’s PE department hosted the annual sports celebration evening.

The event is an opportunity to reflect upon the sporting success of the year while students are awarded with full colours, half colours or certificates of achievement.

Seven students – Charles Willis, Thomas Moxon, Jack Patrick, Thomas Wide, Jordan Butcher, Alistair Morgan and David Thomas – prepared and delivered superb speeches to summarise their year group’s sporting year while Jonathan Manton and Jack Drury also spoke about leadership opportunities in school.

Special guest Ian Taylor, former Great Britain hockey goalkeeper and Olympic medallist, spoke inspirationally about his experiences and how school sport was the springboard to his career.

The evening finished with a poignant farewell to Mr Arnold who has supported the PE department for a number of years in coaching and refereeing.

Sportsman of the Year: Y7 – Matthew Peach, Y8 – Jonah Gill, Y9 – Brandon Andrews, Y10 – Patrick Harrington, Y11 – Jordan Butcher, Seniors –
