Captain Ryan Chappell says Spalding must keep the faith in the search for their first win of the season.

They head to Bedford Athletic on Saturday in Midlands One East after 12 successive league defeats.

Spalding’s latest setback came with a 48-7 verdict at home to second-placed Syston.

Chappell said: “We were mainly on top in the first half and we wanted another 40 minutes like that to get our first win.

“But we can see that our gameplan is starting to work and we are realising that we can compete in this league, even though it’s very tough.

“We have got a little bit of belief back and everyone is enjoying their rugby when we are playing well. We can feel positive.

“We know that playing Bedford Athletic is always a tough game but we will go there and give 100 per cent.

“We are getting better each week and showing some consistency in the way we are playing.”

Sion Williams will be back after a six-week absence due to a knee injury, coming in alongside Chappell as George Brown is ruled out.
