SPALDING ace Charlotte Taylor has been selected to represent Lincolnshire at the Aviva English Schools Championships this weekend.

The 16-year-old will compete in the 3000m event at Gateshead as part of the senior girls squad from the county.

Taylor, who attends Spalding High School and represents Nene Valley Harriers, admits she can’t wait to hit the track.

She said: “I’ve worked really hard to get to this level and I’m really looking forward to competing for Lincolnshire at the English Schools Championships.

“It has been windy for all my races so far this year which has made it difficult to run fast times, so I’m hoping for still days this weekend.”

Taylor, who is a member of the Lincolnshire Elite Athlete Programme (LEAP) run by Lincolnshire Sports Partnership, has been on scorching form in 2011.

She ran a personal best time of 9.53.3mins in the 3000m at the District Schools Championships in May, which qualified her for the Lincolnshire Schools Championships at the beginning of June. She went on to win her race there and qualified for the Anglian Schools Championships, which she also won to book her place at the English Schools.
