RICHARD Scott has targeted a lengthy stint in the Spalding United hot-seat after finally being handed the role on a permanent basis.
The ex-Peterborough United midfielder had been in caretaker charge since of the Tulips since Mark Hone's resignation in November - and always insisted that he wanted the role long-term.
The Tulips confirmed Scott, who picked up two wins from his eight games as caretaker, as their full-time boss at an executive meeting on Thursday evening.
Scott said: "I'm obviously delighted. I feel I've shown my commitment to the club in recent months and it's nice to see that recognised.
"I see myself in the job this time next year and hope to build a team who share that vision."
The role is Scott's first in management and he is Spalding's 15th boss in ten years.
His charges are currently in the bottom two of UniBond League First Division South, five points from safety.
Spalding only survived relegation on a technicality last season after finishing in the drop zone - and there are suggestions that King's Lynn's demise could save them again this time around.
Scott added: "My first task in to ensure we stave off relegation.
"As far as I'm aware two teams will go down.
"I don't want us to have to rely on any technicalities.
"The goal is to finish outside of the relegation places and I feel we are capable of achieving that."
