SHIREBROOK TOWN 2 (Norris 37, Lindsay 73)
HOLBEACH UNITED 2 (Nimmo 15, Parker 52)
THE Tigers face an FA Cup replay tomorrow night after twice being pegged back in Nottinghamshire.
A second goal in two games for Liam Nimmo and a maiden strike from Craig Parker looked to have booked Shaun Keeble's side a place in the Preliminary Round.
But in the end Holbeach were indebted to keeper James Doughty, who pulled off a string of fine saves in the closing stages.
Player/boss Keeble said: "We're pretty happy to bring them back at our place.
"Their pitch didn't really allow us to play the way we wanted, but we still had enough chances to win.
"I'd like to think that we will finish the job on Wednesday."
Holbeach put the Shirebrook defence under early pressure, with both Nimmo and Carl Sedlan going close in the opening exchanges.
The pressure eventually told when ruthless predator Nimmo sniffed out a rebound on the quarter hour, after Pete Sutton's header was only parried.
Shirebrook didn't let the goal get to them, and were within a lick of paint to levelling when a fierce Joe Naylor effort rattled the crossbar.
Well on top at this stage, Andy Crossland fired over for the hosts before Doughty saved well from Naylor.
It seemed the leveller was coming, and so it proved when an uncharacteristic spill from Doughty allowed Tim Norris to slam home an equaliser.
Holbeach regrouped at half time, and took command of the early exchanges of the second half.
Nimmo and Ross Nichols combined well on 52 minutes, allowing Parker to open his Tigers account.
An on-form Nimmo almost put the tie to bed on the hour, but his strike cleared the bar.
Despite being second best for much of the half, Shirebrook restored parity with 17 minutes remaining through substitute Reiss Lindsay.
This seemed to spark them into life, with Doughty forced to save from Lance Mulligan and then Nathan Watson.
Holbeach's player of last season then produced the best save of the match from Ben Kisstell, tipping over instinctively three minutes into added time.
Tigers: Doughty, Thompson, Brooks, Fairweather, Horsewood, Sutton (Allen 68), Nichols, J Sedlan (Treacher 78), C Sedlan (Joof 54), Parker, Nimmo. Not used: Beck, Warfield, Lambe, Elston.
The Carter's Park replay gets underway at 7.45pm tomorrow night.
Craig Parker (holiday) is the only absentee for the Tigers, who will host rivals Boston Town in the next round should they prevail.
Saturday – Tigers v Daventry Utd (3pm).
