An extra-time goal by sub Jonny Allen saw Holbeach reach the third round of the FA Carlsberg Vase.

And his goal is also keeping the Tigers' treasurer happy too – that's another £1,000 to add to the Vase takings this season.

It was a game in which the Tigers bossed the first half, Raunds the second and the ten-man Holbeach side were stronger in extra time.

They had Matt Warfield sent off for the second time this season. He was dismissed eight minutes from the end of normal time for an attempted headbutt.

Holbeach player/manager Shaun Keeble claimed the Clacton player had feigned contact, but made no defence for his player's actions.

Keeble said: "Matty was about two feet away from him and the player himself knows there was no contact.

"But at the end of the day you can't make that sort of movement and expect to get away with it."

Holbeach took the lead on 24 minutes. Omar Joof won the ball and set up deadly striker Liam Nimmo to shoot through the keeper's legs.

Soon afterwards keeper James Doughty kept the Tigers in front, saving from Adam Taylor.

Captain Dean Elston suffered a cut eye just before half time but soldiered on with the wound well bandaged.

Early in the second half Cartwright came to the Tigers' rescue by heading an effort off the goalline.

Tommy Treacher and Cartwright saw good chances to extend the lead foiled by keeper Evans.

And the home side's increased confidence from that was rewarded on 62 minutes.

Doughty fouled a Raunds forward and Adam Taylor scored the resultant penalty.

It was then Raunds' turn to miss chances to take the initiative with Bates shooting over and a Ricky Chambers shot rattling the crossbar.

After Warfield's red card the Tigers might have struggled in extra time – but they went from strength to strength.

Allen replaced Treacher in the 100th minute and soon made his mark.

A shot from him was deflected for a corner and from the resultant Cartwright corner, Allen scrambled the ball into the net.

Nimmo missed two good chances to make it a more comfortable finish for the Tigers. And they were made to sweat when Bates saw a header go just wide just before the final whistle.

Keeble said: "Raunds were better than us in the second half, but in extra time there was only ever going to be one winner and we could have done it 3-1 or 4-1."

Holbeach: Doughty, Patterson, Jackson, Hussey, Elston, Joof, Nichols, Warfield, Cartwright, Treacher (Allen 100min), Nimmo. Subs not used: Coupland, S Keeble.

Saturday: Blackstones v Tigers.
