Stamford A 6 Spalding Town A 3
Spalding Town A started in Peterborough and District Tennis League Division One with an away defeat.

Spalding, only having six fit players to call on in the early part of the season, will no doubt find it difficult.

This certainly proved to be the case in the first round as new pairings struggled to find any understanding necessary at this level. Spalding lost all three rubbers.

The second round saw an improvement with Martin Perkins and Tom Hughes winning 8-5, and Adam Craig and 14-year-old Luke Mann gaining a very creditable 7-6 win after a tie-break.

In the final round Martin Perkins and Tom Hughes were the only winners.

Glenn Perkins and Kevin Hawksworth lost a close encounter 7-6, as did Adam Craig and Luke Mann.

The 6-3 loss was a fair result with a promising debut performance from Luke Mann, who will no doubt gain from the experience.

Results: Glenn Perkins and Kevin Hawksworth lost 9-4, 8-5, 7-6; Martin Perkins and Tom Hughes lost 8-5, won 8-5, 9-4; Adam Craig and Luke Mann lost 10-3, won 7-6, lost 7-6.
