Spalding Town A won their penultimate match in the 2008 season at home to City of Peterborough.
The visitors are at the foot of Division One and look certain to be relegated.
It was therefore no surprise that Spalding, fielding an experienced team, were too strong for their opponents, winning all the nine rubbers by a clear margin.
Despite their position, Peterborough played some good tennis at times but were unable to sustain the standard throughout the match.
Spalding played Will Mason with Martin Perkins as their first pair and they were never really put under too much pressure, although they did fall behind in their first match before winning 8-5.
Matthew Nicholson and Tim Harris were again in dominant form and were never really troubled.
John Farrow was his usual self, castigating any mistakes on his own part, but with younger partner Glenn Perkins was still able to win three rubbers quite comfortably.
After losing in the rain to six players representing Esporta last week, Spalding were pleased to get back to winning ways.
Results: Will Mason and Martin Perkins won 8-5, 11-2, 10-3; Matthew Nicholson and Tim Harris won 9-4, 8-5, 10-3; John Farrow and Glenn Perkins won 8-5, 10-3, 9-4.
