Nick Grimer won the top award of Sports Personality of the Year at the Lincolnshire Free Press and Spalding Guardian Sports Awards on Tuesday.
The Nene Valley Harrier and Spalding Triathlon Club member has had an outstanding year, including winning the Cambridgeshire Road League with an unprecedented five wins and competing in two triathlons on the same day.

He was also named Sportsman of the Year.

The two runners-up in the Sports Personality of the Year category were swimmer Chloe Hannam and athlete Charlotte Taylor.

The finalists in the eight categories which readers voted in were all invited to the presentation night at the South Holland Centre.

  • Junior Sportsman of the Year (sponsored by Broadgate Homes) - Adam Smith; runners-up - Ashley Caress and Jordan Keeble.

  • Junior Sportswoman of the Year (sponsored by Flamingo Flowers Ltd (Spalding)) - Chloe Hannam; runners-up - Kat Rackham and Charlotte Taylor.

  • Footballer of the Year (sponsored by Aspire Health and Wellbeing) - Danny Andrew; runners-up - Sarah Parkin and Danny Matson.

  • Team of the Year (sponsored by Bakkavor) - Spalding RFC 1st; runners-up Nene Valley Harriers Under-17 men and Holbeach Utd U/10s.

  • School Sporting Achievement of the Year (sponsored by Spalding High School Sports College) - Charlotte Taylor; runners-up - Josh Bowers and Adam Smith.

  • Unsung Hero/Coach of the Year (sponsored by South Holland District Council) - Pete Cousins; runners-up - Ken Maggs and Ron Pates.
