HOLBEACH's Scott Parnell was the new passenger for former British F2 sidecar champion Gary Horspole as they rode to a third and sixth place finish in the opening two rounds of the British F2 Sidecar Championship at Cadwell Park over the Bank Holiday weekend.
The county duo powered through from a third row grid position to take up third place on the opening lap of race one and maintained it all the way to the chequered flag.

Race two saw an epic battle at the front with the duo latched on the back of the group in sixth place.

But the action was stopped on lap five because of an incident at Park and the restart was again red-flagged when the frontrunners bunched together at Charlie's.

Finally the race got under way for the third time and Horspole and Parnell took up fifth position ahead of Simon Neary.

But as the race progressed Neary got the better of the county duo, who completed the race in sixth position to claim a further ten championship points.

It puts them fourth in the rider points table after two of 14 races.

Parnell said: "All the top teams were there and beforehand we'd have taken fourth in the championship after the two rounds."

  • Next round is at Snetterton on June 21 and 22.
