Thursday, 12pm - BEN Wilson is itching to get the new season under way this weekend.
With a successful series of pre-season tests under his belt, the Gearlink Kawasaki Supersport rider and will begin his assault on the British Supersport title at Brands Hatch.

The Lincolnshire rider, who hails from Kirton, completed his first season with Gearlink Kawasaki last year.

He finished in a fine fourth place, ending no fewer than five races in a podium position and scoring his first win at the Knockhill round in July.

The team were quick to retain his services for the 2010 season and with just a matter of hours to go before the first round of the new campaign, both team and rider are fully prepared and raring to go.

Wilson, who celebrated his 28th birthday last week, has completed a series of pre-season tests both in Spain and in the UK at Brands Hatch and Mallory Park.

He reckons that the new Kawasaki ZX-6R is a superb bike to ride and is eager to put it through its paces under race conditions over the Easter weekend.

Wilson said: "I really like the short Brands Hatch Indy circuit, it suits the Kawasaki and I usually go very well there. But we have some really tough opposition this year, even more so than last year so I am not expecting an easy ride.

"I will have to work hard to obtain the result I know I can achieve and a good strong result from the first round will kick-start my season."

The first round of the new campaign has the added bonus of an additional day of testing on Good Friday, ahead of qualifying on Saturday and Sunday.

The 26-lap British Supersport race is due on track at 3.30pm on Easter Monday and is expected to benefit from live television coverage.

The races will come thick and fast before the campaign's conclusion at Oulton Park in October, as Wilson bids to improve on last year's impressive showing and land the coveted championship.
