GEDNEY Hill Golf Club found a talented Canwick Park side a step too far in the Mail on Sunday Golf Classic.
They went out in round five after an extremely hard-fought match, with the teams needing two extra holes to be separated.

After five matches the pair were locked together on 2.5 points each.

Ian Weller and skipper David Lord grabbed wins for Gedney Hill, winning 7&5 and 2up respectively.

The half came from Jim Starbuck, while Nigel Baines (2&1) and Colin Rust (1down) were narrowly beaten.

With the opening extra hole halved, Gedney Hill unfortunately lost on the par five second additional hole.

  • The fantastic foursome of Andy Davies, Chris Davies, Nikki Weller and Ian Weller won the 2009 Gedney Hill AM-AM.

  • They racked up 109 points to see off 22 other teams, with Jim Starbuck, Teresa Starbuck, Colin Rust and Jackie Rust four points back in second.

Dick Clift, Tony Burgess, Simon Webster and David Reynolds completed the top three on 104 points.

  • Places are still available at Gedney Hill Pro-am (Friday July 10) and Gedney Hill Men's Pairs Open (Saturday August 1).

  • Entry forms to Kerr Page Professional, Gedney Hill Golf Club, West Drove North, Gedney Hill, Spalding, Lincs, PE12 ONT.
