Spalding 2nd (23) lost to Skegness (206) by 183 runs
NEWLY-formed Spalding 2nd crumbled in their first match of the season, skittled out for just 23 runs.

They were put into the field on a perfect day for cricket.

Adam Briggs and 14-year-old Jake Morton bowled well against a very strong opening p
artnership.

Morton dismissed O'Dare for six with a ball that swung around his legs, clipping leg stump, and Patel was bowled by another 14-year-old debutante, Ashley Bright, who delivered a good mixture of swing and seam.

Skegness captain James Elsom came in and attacked from the start.

A Hill then fell, playing on to Simpson, before Elsom and T Hill took the score to 137.

Another Spalding debutante Andy Hardstaff dismissed T Hill for 17.

Hardstaff, after a slow start, bowled an excellent line with plenty of air, spin and variety to leave the Skegness batsmen mystified as they tried to up the run rate.

Hardstaff finished with 6-45 from 12 overs as Skegness were finally bowled out in the 44th over for 206, with Elsom 57 not out.

With Spalding fielding an inexperienced batting line-up, wickets fell in quick succession to fine and very accurate bowling from O'Dare and Sylvester.

Skipper Jim Clarke was the only batsman to spend any time at the creese before finally falling to a catch after an hour and a toiled six.

Soon afterwards the innings was wrapped up with O'Dare and Sylvester sharing the ten wickets equally.
