Billingborough 1st (223-5) beat Bourne 2nd (222-9) by five wickets
AN unbeaten 48 from Stegmann Coetzee guided Billingborough 1st to a five-wicket victory over Bourne 2nd at the Abbey Lawn on Saturday.

Dave Newman also hit 74 as the visitors chased down Bourne's 222-9 with 22 balls to spare.

The mainstay of the Bourne innings was Chris Dring, who hit six fours and a maximum in his 61 – before being clean bowled by Pete Simmonds.

Opener Mark Richardson also excelled, slapping ten boundaries in his score of 43 before falling to Stuart Gollop.

Matt Pottle (38) and Martin Harris (21) also made useful contributions down the order.

Billingborough's reply got off to the perfect start, with openers John Mountain (35) and Newman laying the foundations of the innings.

Newman hit two sixes and nine fours, while Mountain helped himself to five boundaries before they both fell to James Gunthorp.

Coetzee saw his side home by plundering a big six and seven fours, falling just short of a half century.
