ATHLETICS: Adam hurls discus to new record and coveted trophy

A CRACKING weekend for Nene Valley Harriers saw the club have 18 county champions and break five championship records.
In total the club picked up 36 county medals.

In addition to the Championship record, Adam Mohan won the Lincoln City and Colleges Trophy for the most outstanding individual performance at the championships.

His 38.31m in the Under-15 boys' discus added more than ten per cent to the previous record.

Sophie Hallam was awarded the Margaret Fitzgibbon Trophy for her 33.20m to win the under-20 women's javelin.

Charlotte Taylor blew the field away to win the under-15 girls 1,500m in a championship record of 4.53.0mins and then returned on Sunday to blitz the field again to win the 800m in a personal best time of 2.22.9mins.

Sam Lawrence won a keenly competed under-17 men's 200m in a championship record of 22.2secs and Amelia Susulowski showed great commitment to win the under-20 women's 3,000m in a championship record of 10.56.5mins.

Robert Mohan emulated his brother's performance by winning the under-20 men's shot put with a championship record of 13.86m.

Emma Hornby showed the depth of the club's peformances, breaking two under-13 girls' club records – second in the 70m hurdles and second in the long jump (4.22m).

She also got two other medals with personal best performaces in the 100m (14.3secs for bronze) and the 200m (29.3secs for silver).

Finally, in terms record breakers, Brooke Taylor won the under-13 girls' discus with a club record 16.71m.

There were many other personal bests – at least 19 – and cracking efforts which are too many to mention individually.
