What is the point of giving them a vote if they can’t speak English?

UPON receiving my renewal letter from South Holland District Council about the electoral roll I telephoned the free phone line to re-register.

I was alarmed to hear not only a recorded English speaking voice, but it was followed by several different foreign statements.

I can only assume that these were directed at the immigrant population.

This begs the question: How do these immigrants get on the electoral roll in the first place and what is the point of giving them a vote if they cannot understand sufficient English to complete their registration procedure?

They certainly would not be able to understand any political agenda to enable them to use that vote correctly.
