I HAVE read the front page story (dated 21/08/12) regarding the boy racers in Spalding at the weekend and unlike most people I would like to commend the “boy racers” and police for a successful event.
I am the mother of a 17-year-old who attended the event in the car of his friend.
I was comforted to know that there was CCTV in operation and that the “boy racers”, who were far from being boys, were given advice about their driving behaviour and manners in an organised and structured way.
Surely this is preferable to a high speed road chase?
It is my view that there was no more noise or inconvenience then at the flower or pumpkin parades and I am sure that in this time when we want to encourage and embrace the younger generation this is an appropriate way to do this.
So I, for one, will be supporting any future organised events of this kind.
