A Baptist minister friend told me of a meeting he once chaired.
One of the folk was animated in discussion but halfway through fell silent.
My friend was worried it had been because of something he might have said.
Afterwards he asked him. “Oh no,” was the reply. Upon commenting on how he had fallen silent the chap replied: “I have not been home yet from work. My wife had asked me to bring some sausages home with me and I have forgotten.
“For the rest of the meeting I have been thinking of what I am going to say to her when I get home!”
Many are the things which can cause us anxiety not least health, family or financial matters.
The Christian however knows they have a heavenly Father to whom we can bring all our worries.
As the apostle Peter wrote: “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”
Prayer is the place where burdens change shoulders, the Lord in turn giving us His peace as the God for whom no problem is unsolvable!
“Are we weak and heavy-laden, cumbered with a load of care?
“Precious Saviour still our refuge, take it to the Lord in prayer!”
