THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: Please dig deep for Christian Aid week

Have your say

DO you hate leaflets and other things being pushed through your letter box? Do you, like me, not pay much attention to them and just pick them up and put them into the recycling box?

This week, could I ask you to pay a little more attention, as many of you should get a red envelope through your door, as this is Christian Aid week.

I know many of us are finding things financially difficult at this time but there are many places in the world that are finding life much harder than we are and even a few coppers placed in the envelope will help other people.

The work of Christian Aid is not just about giving the people one-off support, but giving them the support and teaching them to look after themselves, and getting them out of the trap of poverty. As someone once said: “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day.

“Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”

This is what Christian Aid strives to do. Your gift will help people living in poverty hopefully get out of poverty for good.
