STOCK CARS: Meetings were held in Pinchbeck

Back in the late Sixties we were involved in the Spalding grass track car racing club, and then moved onto F2 short circuit stock car racing, attending a number of tracks around the country.

Recently whilst looking at a history of stock car stadiums on the web, I came across a reference to Whip Chicken Farm, near Crowland, that had held two meetings in the Fifties, but there was no other information available.

Never having heard of this before, I was intrigued and I have looked at the archives in the local library and found one of the adverts and race reports from the Free Press and Spalding Guardian.

The advert is from October 11, 1955 and the meeting was on Sunday, October 16.

It was reported that almost 6000 people attended.

A guy I used to work with thought these may have been some of the first ever meetings held, so it would be fantastic to find any photographs.

If any are found they will be forwarded on to Simon Lewis who is the site owner where I found the reference.
