MP John Hayes (Hayes in the House, January 27) was absolutely right to champion the interests of local farmers and growers in this area, correctly
pointing out that they rarely get a fair deal from supermarkets.
Though he didn’t shout about it, John played an instrumental role in helping to set up the supermarket ombudsman, and he is absolutely right when he echoes David Cameron in saying that the Groceries Code Adjudicator must have more powers to protect farmers, growers and consumers.
Now is the time for everyone to get behind the adjudicator to bring about the powers that are so badly needed.
We are so fortunate to have a local MP who understands this and is willing to take on the major supermarkets.
