As Christmas 2014 fades, one outstanding memory lives on – the generosity shown by the South Holland community to keep the Christmas day lunch running.
Spalding Guardian, individuals, local businesses, the Ivo Centre, the district council and an army of volunteers gave their time, goods and services to make Christmas Day special for guests who would otherwise have been on their own.
It was a privilege to take part in an event where all sections of the community worked so well together.
But special thanks are due to the person who made it all happen. Chrissie Redford is too modest to admit it but she was the woman behind the Christmas Day party, launching the appeal, organising and coordinating the event, putting her heart and soul into making the day a success.
As chief reporter of this newspaper she cannot thank herself, so Chrissie, on behalf of our local community, I’d like to say a huge thank you for making Spalding a town to be proud of. You are truly one of Spalding’s guardian angels!
