To all those who helped Spalding win a Silver Gilt Award this year in the East Midlands in Bloom competition, many thanks.
In particular we would like to thank all the businesses who sponsored hanging baskets, tubs or planters, Gardman of Moulton for donating brackets for baskets at the charity shops and Adrian Nind of Spalding Plant & Bulb Company (Plantiflor Ltd) for generously funding the hanging baskets and troughs at all the charity shops, Corbo for sponsoring the barrier baskets near Swan Street and baskets at Brantano, Birchgrove Garden Centre for their continued support and Ben and James from The Punchbowl for putting up the new brackets.
We would also like to mention Dan and his team at Ayscoughfee Gardens, grounds maintenance and communication staff at South Holland District Council, local highway officers, Tony Wright of Lance Design & Media, who provided some of the photographs for our brochure and all volunteers who turn out to help us weeding and undertaking litter picks throughout the year.
Last but not least we pass on our thanks to John Naylor and his team for setting up our baskets this year and carrying out the watering.
We have already had some businesses in the town indicating they wish to join in next year and we will need to purchase some additional baskets. Any other new participants wishing to join in should please contact us as soon as possible. Committee members will be coming round to take orders ready for next year as John Naylor will need to know in the New Year how many baskets to set up. New sponsors are always welcome.
Any schools or churches wishing to receive some free flower seeds should please contact George Slinger direct at Birchgrove Garden Centre, Pinchbeck.
