IMMIGRATION: Blackening one group’s image to attack them?

What is it with youngsters today? A man in his sixties feels intimidated at the thought of going into Spalding at night (Free Press, April 23).

Now approaching my mid-eighties, I’ve never found anything in the least intimidating in several years of frequent night-time roaming around the town centre and elsewhere.

Not long ago, a contributor to your letters page described Station Street/Winsover Road as becoming a ‘no go area’. Good grief!

And to think we Brits used to consider ourselves a fearless nation.

Are we now getting scared by bogies from our own imagination (or is all this part of a process of blackening one group’s image in order to attack them)?
