Can someone please enlighten me as to what the purpose of Spalding Civic Society is?
I assumed, wrongly it would seem, that they are there to keep an eye on the Spalding area, and to ensure that it is not vandalised by developers such as Corbo for their own ends.
It would seem that they cannot do this. Are they therefore a toothless tiger?
I suppose they meet occasionally, have a good talk about developments in general, arrange social gatherings and entertainments, and achieve precisely nothing.
I don’t know why they bother.
EDITOR: I am sure someone from the society will reply and tell you “why they bother”.
I do happen to know, however, that Corbo has been talking to the society over its plans for Spalding and values its input.
