With regards to the (hit and run) incident on Bourne Road, Spalding on Friday, I would first like to give my condolences to the family.
Isn’t it about time that something was done about the speeding and the lighting conditions along that road as the lighting is very poor?
Most nights there are blue lights going by the house. At least five years ago, roughly, a petition was raised along Bourne Road about reducing the speed limit from 50 miles-per-hour to 40 and presented to the (Lincolnshire County) council.
This was, however, rejected with them saying that there hadn’t been enough deaths – even though 95 per cent of the residents signed it.
We have now had this one plus another one that was badly injured. My brother was also knocked off his bike a few years ago while doing a paper round on the same stretch of road. Is this enough or do they need more deaths before they will do anything.
The council needs to wake up and realise the speed cars do down this road. It is not a safe environment for the children down this road.
Therefore I am starting a petition to make Bourne Road safer for not just the residents but for the people on the road as well.
Hopefully the council will now get off their backsides and do something about it. Once again I give my condolences to the family and I hope they can get some closure.
