GRASS CUTTING: It only costs us £1-a-year

It looks as though letter writer Mr Turp would rather see our churchyards overgrown as wildlife areas (last week’s Guardian).

Might I remind him that churchyards belong to the whole parish and everyone has a right to be buried in them – though in the case of Pinchbeck, only as ashes in the Garden of Remembrance which is a quiet lawn by the east window of the chancel.

The cost to ratepayers is only around £1 a year for each house; that’s about eight pence a month.
