On behalf of the Ukulele Orchestra of Spalding, I would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone involved in last Saturday’s Flower Parade.
Clearly, the organisers, superbly supported by an army of volunteers and helpers, had put in a phenomenal effort to ensure that the historic (but hopefully not the last) parade was to be a success. Our group was brilliantly aided by marshals, sound engineer and tractor driver, in order that all we had to do was play and sing.
And that is where the wonderful people of Spalding came up trumps.
Playing ukuleles and singing for over three hours, is not something I would normally recommend –it is exhausting!
However, when every road through the town is lined with hundreds of people, smiling, clapping, cheering, waving, dancing and singing, life becomes a lot easier.
Every member of the Ukulele Orchestra was filled with pride and joy.
We were proud of our own efforts, but prouder still of all those people who came out to support this wonderful community effort.
Thank you, Spalding!
