I would like to begin by saying WOW! I have just finished watching the Cowbit Jubilee celebration firework extravaganza and I have to say it was the best display I think I have ever seen.
My daughters and I have spent our day supporting the celebrations which began on Cowbit Wash this morning watching the traditional firing of the punt guns.
Then this afternoon we enjoyed bouncing on the bouncy castle, racing cars round a Scalextric track, watching entertainment in the main arena, playing numerous games on numerous stalls and enjoyed burgers, hot dogs and ice cream before being entertained with live music before the fireworks began.
The weather held out – just – although it could have been mistaken for a cold day in March rather than June but this didn’t seem to deter the crowds.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks to all those involved who must have spent many hours meeting and organising the event, posting leaflets through doors and putting up posters as well as running stalls and entertainment on the day (and who were still in the playing field taking down stalls and the marquee after the event ended).
Cowbit has recently become a ghost village since the closure of the garage, post office and shop followed by the closure of the pub but Saturday’s event has put us back on the map, hosting an event to be proud of. Thank you Cowbit!
A Proud Resident
