DEVELOPMENT: I’m fed up of Spalding’s Berlin Wall

Have your say

I do realize that I raised this issue before, but the eyesore at the top of Carrington Road shows no sign of being developed by the Spar organisation that bought the site. We must be going into the second year of going past the Berlin Wall.

I can recall it took three council planning meetings to get the planning application through – this was against the wishes of the local community who set up a petition to fight

off another mini market being built so near other amenities.

Also the junction is always very busy and is was deemed a safety hazard to have so much activity in one area, such as parked vehicles and deliveries causing problems to otherwise-normal local traffic.

The site was acquired during recession, so I don’t expect an excuse that development has not gone ahead because of the current economic climate.

Research must have been carried out and the council passed the plans, so I wonder what has gone wrong after all this time?
