ON Friday we delivered the petition “Save the Chappell Centre” for submission to the Lincolnshire County Council’s Adult Scrutiny Committee and would like your readers to see the following statement:
On behalf of the service users of the Chappell Centre, and their parents and carers, we would like to express our gratitude to all of you who supported the petition against the threatened closure of the day care centres and respite care facilities in Lincolnshire.
We would like to thank the management and customers at Sainsbury’s, Churches Together in South Holland, the staff at Morrisons and all of you who took the petition around your neighbours and workplaces but above all thank you to Lynne Harrison and the Free Press and Guardian.
With all your support we have collected 5,834 signatures which have been safely delivered to Graham Watts, of the Democratic Services, for submission to the LCC’s Adult Scrutiny Committee.
Maurice Chappell and Michael Lee will be attending the committee meeting on February 1 where Mr Chappell will be formally handing over the petition and delivering a statement in support of it.
You may like to know that we have been hearing from other people around the county who are concerned with similar situations.
God bless you all for your support and be assured that further developments will be reported.
SHEILA AND MICHAEL LEE
