CCTV is no use at all

I don’t think CCTV cameras act as a deterrent at all and are therefore a complete waste of money.

They are often just a “me too” addition to an area so that the council can tick the box for propaganda purposes, telling residents they ought to be safer with Big Brother watching them 24/7.

Back in August 2009 a national newspaper reported that the Metropolitan Police admitted it took 1,000 CCTV cameras to solve just one crime.

Crimes are still occurring across Britain despite this country pursuing the most Draconian surveillance with four million CCTV cameras. Sometimes one gets the feeling that this must be what former East Germany must have felt like.

But on numerous occasions after a crime has been committed we discover that the camera was not working or the film too grainy to detect anything. Therefore about as much use as a chocolate teapot.

Get rid of CCTV cameras, save the money and spend it instead on a few more bobbies on the beat. They would be a much better deterrent!
