I write in regards to the article detailing a foreign man, who was arrested for being drunk and disorderly.
The man screamed “the F-word four times, including once to describe Britain and once to describe the British people”, yet there is no mention of racism from the police in the charge details or in the court case at all and despite having a previous conviction, he effectively got off with paying £85 costs.
To me, this smacks of double standards and not for the first time. We have heard so many times from the local police, amidst these times of tensions, that our once fine town is now suffering, that racism will not be tolerated no matter who is at fault, however, it is clear that this is not the case at all.
Imagine if a local resident had gone into the town centre and loudly shouted expletives aimed at the migrant community.
I would bet every last penny I had that the police would arrest that person and charge them with inciting racial hatred, or a similar offence.
All racism is wrong, isn’t it? So where is the equality?
