I would like to thank all the people who helped make the 2011 poppy collection at Pinchbeck and West Pinchbeck the best ever.
During the two week appeal period we collected over £10,800 from door-to-door collections and the boxes in the hospital, schools, shops, pubs, local businesses and the stall at Morrisons, which contributed over £9,000.
Other sums, including the church collection, have enabled me to send £12,083 to Maidstone for this year’s appeal – an increase of £450 over 2010.
Whilst recording my thanks to all the collectors, businesses, and the management at Morrisons the biggest thanks must go to you, the people of Pinchbeck and beyond who have given so generously to this very worthy cause.
As an aside, this letter seems to be an annual event in that it records yet another year of increased donations to the appeal, but as your other correspondents will agree, we need to raise more and more each year to ensure that we can continue to help those ex-service people and their families who fall on hard times.
