Football, gymnastics, athletics – name a sport and the chances are it’s happening right now somewhere in South Holland.

Schools, clubs and organisations embrace sports of all kinds and here are a few of the latest events and competitions.

lAt Spalding’s Sir John Gleed School Btec students Jack Cooper and Lauren Moore organised a South Lincs under 14s football tournament, which saw teams from across the area competing.

lHolbeach and Fenland Gym Club has been able to buy some new equipment thanks to kind donations from Spalding Power Station and South Holland district councillors Rita Rudkin and Martin Howard.

lWorld champion triple jumper Laura Samuel visited Fleet Wood Lane Primary School, where she put pupils through their paces with some specially-designed routines.

lYoung Dons under 14s have a smashing new kit thanks to sponsors Electric Tracks, of Weston Hills.

The Donington-based team went along to the Scalectrix centre for an official kit presentation.

l Pupils at Whaplode Primary School honed their ball skills during the Pro Kick Schools Challenge.

The children competed against each other to see who could kick a football the fastest.

Half of the sponsorship money raised will go towards maintenance costs of the school’s swimming pool and the other half to the Sports Connections Foundation charity.
