Children and staff at Spalding Primary School welcomed some special guests from the town’s fire station to learn about safety at home and in the community.

The visit was part of Year 2’s topic of Fire, Fire for the term and children were shown round a real-life fire engine by Gary King and his colleagues, before having the chance to see some of the equipment firemen use.

But the day also had a serious side as the firemen talked about the protective uniform they wear and how the children could stay safe from the threat of fires.

Year 2 teacher Harriet Webb said: “Several of the crew and fire engines from Spalding Fire Station came to our school and we had so much fun.”
