Last week saw the annual Years 3 and 4 tag rugby festival return to Spalding.

The event was part of the Sainsbury’s School Games, a programme which is designed to build upon the London Olympics in 2012 and get children involved in sport and competition.

Over 200 boys and girls from 15 schools across the south Lincolnshire experienced a fantastic day of sport in the late Autumn sunshine.

In the morning the children had a training session with the Y10 sports leader students from Spalding Grammar School, this was followed by an afternoon of tournaments giving them the opportunity to put their new skills to the test.

All the children worked really hard, learnt new skills, made new friends and experienced competition.

School Games Organiser Rupert Gibson said: “Many thanks to Spalding Rugby Club and Spalding Grammar School for hosting this event and especially to the Sports Leaders who did a fantastic job.”
