The Deeping Sports and Social Club’s three-day Summer Sports Camp concluded in spectacular fashion on Friday.
Each day saw over 50 youngsters turn up to take part in a variety of activities and sporting competitions, enjoying games of cricket, rugby, rounders and more.
Sponsored by the Co-operative and Deeping Shopping Centre, the event, which had been in the works since before last Christmas, was created to encourage young children between the ages of six and 14 to go outside and participate in sport.
Tournaments took place throughout each day, however there was little emphasis on winning or losing as kids were told to simply enjoy themselves and have a good time.
Sports camp organisers pulled in four qualified coaches to arrange each activity and make sure children knew what they were doing.
Commenting on the event, head coach Jane Lampshire said: “The amount of people who have turned up has been a pleasant surprise.
“We got lots of positive feedback from children and parents and a request to run the camps again in Easter and summer next year.
“Plans for Easter will be to run a Young Leaders course alongside the camp and engage with young people from local secondary schools, colleges and the cricket club to take part.”
